Trenchcoats
To cover a nice wool suit, you will need a trenchcoat. The best looking trenchcoats are almost always made of wool. The best looking of the trenchcoats are gray, black, or blue wool. They will often be somewhat softer than the wool suit because the yarn for a trenchcoat is created to keep people warm.
Can you imagine covering a nice wool suit with a nylon ski jacket? It happens, but it certainly looks more professional to have a trenchcoat.
There is one big advantage to trenchcoats and that is that they are longer than a lot of coats. They will go down far enough to cover the entire suit and a lot of the pants.
